Wine Score 90 Points Plus & UNDER $30 – A good bottle of wine doesn’t have to break the bank.

You simply need to know how to choose the best quality wine in your price range.

Here are some tips and recommendations.

Wine Score 90 Points Plus & UNDER $30 – It’s All About The Grapes

Every time you mention your favorite wine, be it Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc, or Riesling, you’re really just naming the type of grape that it’s made from. The grapes used to make wine play an enormous role in each distinctive flavor, alcohol content and tannin level.

Wine Score 90 Points Plus & UNDER $30 – Know Your Favorite Wine Location

Earlier we mentioned the role that grape varieties play in the flavor and body of a good inexpensive wine, but the growing region is also important. Wines grown in temperate European climates like France and Germany are going to be more delicate in flavor than those grown in Spain and the New World countries. By tasting wines from different regions and deciding which you prefer, you’ll be able to narrow down your choices even more.

A WINNER IN JUST ABOUT EVERY VINTAGE, AND THE 2018 HAS LOADS TO LOVE

Once coming entirely from Grenache planted around 1950 in a sandy part of Lirac, the former Côtes-du-Rhône Les Sables d’Arene would be a standout Lirac if it wasn’t for the fact that mono-varietal wines were not permitted according under current AOC rules.

Starting with the 2018 vintage, Les Sables d’Arene is now officially a Lirac since an elderly and heirless neighbor in Lirac was so impressed with François organic farming that he has leased his old vines of Syrah and Mourvèdre to Domaine Giraud.

Depending on yields Sables d’Arene is about 2/3 Grenache with the remainder equal parts Syrah and Mourvèdre.

It retains its characteristic bright floral and bright cherry aromas with touches of bay laurel and peppery tannins.

2016 BALLETTO CHARDONNAY

Russian River Valley, USA

$28.95

POUR IT WITH PRAWNS IN BROWN BUTTER.

The Balletto family farms 16 vineyards in the Russian River Valley, mostly in the Sebastopol Hills and the Santa Rosa Plains, many of them parcels they converted from vegetables to vines in the 1990s.

While they sell most of their fruit, they keep some for their own bottlings, including this chardonnay.

It’s a wine of simple beauty, opening to lemon and sweet pear flavors, the sunny fruit in the foreground.

The acidity softens from apple-scented malic tension to hints of freshly churned butter, but it’s the lovely fruit that lasts.

Wine Score 90 Points Plus & UNDER $30 -Avoid Expensive Wine Regions

Wine regions like the Loire Valley or Bordeaux are famous for their wines and their high prices too. If you’re a fan of easy-drinking cheap wines, skip the fancy regions and choose a winery from elsewhere. As we mentioned above, it’s best to let the grape variety guide you in your search for the best cheap wine bottles.

Wine Score 90 Points Plus & UNDER $30 – Find Less Expensive Labels From Notable Producers

There’s an exception to the rule about wine regions: sometimes a famous producer in a prestigious region will have several labels in their wine offering. As with many brands, you’ll often find that there’s a premium label alongside one that offers good cheap champagne and other wines. It’s also worth looking out for sales and special prices on premium wine. A little bargain hunting can really pay off.

Great tasting wine doesn’t need to cost you a fortune. In fact, some of the budget friendly wines in our review are hard to beat when it comes to flavor and drinking experience.
