Ask any lover and collector of Pinot Noir where their favorite wines are made and most people will immediately say Burgundy.
The birthplace of Pinot Noir, Burgundy has long been hailed as the home of the world’s best and often most expensive wines.
For example, a single bottle of Domaine de la Romanée Conti can fetch $12,000 on release and triple that (or more) a few years later at auction.
For a quick overview the two major growing regions of Burgundy listed north to south are as follows:
Côte de Nuits: Vineyards from the Côte extend south of Dijon for more than twelve miles and include famed villages such as Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, Vosne-Romanée, and Nuits-St-Georges.
Côte de Beaune: The vineyards here encompass the next 12 miles south of the Côte de Nuits.
At the center of the Côte de Beaune is the city of Beaune, with the villages of Pernand-Vergelesses and Aloxe-Corton situated to the north.
South of Beaune you’ll find Pommard, Volnay, Meursault, Puligny Montrachet, and others known for both white and red wines.

Domaine Dujac was founded by Jacques Seysses in 1968 when he purchased Domaine Graillet and renamed it as a tongue in cheek pun for “domaine owned by Jacques.”

Founded in 1863 by Frédéric Mugnier and run today by his descendants, Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier is one of the Côte de Nuits’s finest producers.
Their 2015 Musigny Grand Cru has luscious notes of black cherry, purple flowers, and an enduring sense of earthiness.
This will hold for another two decades.

Domaine Leroy 2010 Musigny Grand Cru
Maison Leroy was founded by wine negociant Francois Leroy in 1868 and in 1942 his grandson Henri Leroy acquired shares in Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.
In 1988 the estate became Domaine Leroy and all of the vineyards were converted to biodynamic grape growing.
Has an ethereal bouquet of red raspberry, red cherry, and crushed oyster shell. An amazing wine with great persistency.
