Celebrities With The Most Expensive Car Collections – Being a celebrity these days is often a lucrative endeavor.

Whether it’s forging a career as an athlete, actor, entrepreneur, a musician, or even a comedian, it seems like there’s more opportunity than ever for up-and-coming celebs to earn weekly paychecks bigger than most of us will make in a year.

Often, when they’ve made their millions, one of the first things they like to splash out on is an expensive car or two.

Celebrities With The Most Expensive Car Collections – Ralph Lauren Car Collection Value at $350 Million

Fashion mogul Ralph Lauren has one of the most famous car collections in the world, estimated to be worth some $350 million.

That’s a reflection of not mere quantity (although there’s little chance of Ralph running out of cars any time soon), but incredible quality as well, with a 1938 Bugatti 57SC Atlantic Coupe (one of just four ever made), a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, a 1995 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing Coupe, and not one but five 1950 Jaguar XK120 Roadsters, just some of the works of automotive art sitting in his expansive garage.

Lauren is almost as famous for his car collection as he his for his fashion empire, and in 2011 he brought some of his best cars to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris for an exhibition:

Of all the car collections on this list, my absolute favorite is the one owned by legendary fashion designer Ralph Lauren.

The collection of approximately 70 cars is possibly the highest-valued in the world with an estimated value of over $300 million. With a net worth of $6.2 billion, Mr. Lauren can afford to continue to add breathtaking, one-of-a-kind automotive treasures to his collection.

The highlight of the collection is the 1938 Bugatti 57SC Atlantic, one of four ever built and one of only two examples that still exist.

The car is worth roughly $50 million and won both the “Best in Show” at the 1990 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and the 2012 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, the world’s most prestigious car show.

Another car in the collection is a 1929 Bentley 4.5-liter ‘Blower’ that took part in one of the world’s oldest automobile races, The 24 Hours of Le Mans, in 1930, 1932, and 1933.

Ralph Lauren Car Collection Value at $350 Million

Being in the top 100 richest people in the world warrants a huge and expensive car collection, and Ralph’s car collection comes to a whopping estimated value of $350 million.

It is said that the American fashion designer has one of the most impressive and finest car collections in the world.

Besides his great fashion taste, his car taste is just as magnificent with his selection including but not limited to a 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, a Lamborghini Reventon Roadster, and a Bugatti type 57SC Atlantic.

Sticking with the theme of rare and exclusive, Ralph owns one of the five 24 hour Le Mans Carrera Panamericana and Silverstone winners, with the Ferrari 375 capable of booting out 325 hp through a Lampredi V-12 engine. $18.3 million was the price set for the Ferrari 375 Plus at an auction back in 2014.

Celebrities With The Most Expensive Car Collections – Jay Leno Car Collection Value at $150 Million

Jay Leno has no doubt one of the best car collections in the world; he owns at least 181 cars and 160 motorcycles.

The collection is worth approximately $150M.

Leno collects not only modern cars, but vintage motorbikes, classic cars, pre-war vehicles, turbine-powered cars and even vehicles powered by steam. As long as it has a story, you’ll likely find it in Jay’s ownership.

celebrities-with-the-most-expensive-car-collections-Jay-Leno-Car-Collection-Value-at-$150-Million

Jay Leno Car Collection Value at $150 Million

Jay Leno’s car collection spans upwards of 180 cars, 160 motorbikes, and according to Celerity Net Worth, is valued at approximately $150 million.

Within this collection sits a number of one-off vehicles, making it incredibly difficult to accurately value, so take that number with a pinch of salt.

On top of this, he is always adding and subtracting from his huge collection, plus restoring the cars that need it, so it’s almost impossible to keep up with what he owns.

The former host owns approximately 286 vehicles as of 2018. Leno’s dizzying lineup includes 169 cars and 117 motorcycles.

The comedian prizes his cars so much that he keeps them in a $1.4 million state-of-the-art garage and bases an entire Netflix show around them.

With a small team of mechanics, Jay Leno maintains and restores his precious fleet of cars.

Some notable examples from the collection (although they all happen to be notable) include a Chrysler Tank Car (powered by an M47 Patton Tank engine), a 2014 McLaren P1 (one of just 375 ever built), and a 1930 Bentley 27 Liter (powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine from a WWII-era Spitfire fighter plane).

Celebrities With The Most Expensive Car Collections – Jerry Seinfeld Car Collection Value at $75 Million

There must be something about the comedy gene that also leads one to obsessively collect cars, because Jerry Seinfeld is another comic who’s made that one of his life’s works. He’s known as having one of the biggest collections of Porsches in the world.

He owns so many that a few years back he auctioned off a whole slate of 15 of them for a total of $22 million, and he has a $1.4 million garage in the Upper West Side of Manhattan specifically for storing a portion of his collection on the east coast.

He owns a rainbow of  10 Porsche Boxsters, a 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder with the same grey color as the one driven by actor James Dean when he died, and one of only 339 Porsche 959s ever build, purported by one source to be “the centerpiece” of his collection.

As his fame and wealth have grown, Seinfeld has amassed an impressive collection of automobiles, specifically Porsches.

Jerry Seinfeld owns about 150 vehicles, the total value of his collection is the same as Leno’s. It’s estimated at being worth approximately $75M thanks to all the rare and valuable vehicles.

The Seinfeld star has around 80 cars from his favorite maker and once said Porsche is the “essence of sports-car perfection.

The American comic who made millions from his Show About Nothing is a famous Porschephile, having purchased an old airport hangar to house his collection of Stuttgart rockets.

Seinfeld also has dozens of classic Jaguars, vintage Corvettes and plenty of random cool old tin, but it is his Porsches which he’s almost as famous for.

He owns examples of some of the earliest cars to wear the Porsche badge, famous racing versions of all ages, countless 911 and 356 models and more.

He actually sold 18 cars from his collection in 2016 for a wild US$22 million just to clear space for new additions!

Jerry Seinfeld has an insane multi-million dollar collection of approximately 46 ultra-rare Porsches.

Some of the rare Porches include the first 911 ever produced, an exceptional and very valuable 959, and a 1955 550 Spyder, the same model that legendary actor James Dean drove to his death.

Seinfeld built a compound, which was built in 2011 and is located in close proximity to Seinfeld’s Central Park penthouse, includes four large garages, a lounge area, a kitchen, a bathroom, and an office.

Among them are 10 vintage Ferraris, including holy grails like a 1963 250GT Lusso, a 1974 365 GTB/4 Daytona, a not-officially-sold-in-the-U.S. 1983 512BBi, and a 1985 288 GTO.

Celebrities With The Most Expensive Car Collections – Floyd Mayweather Car Collection Value at $25 Million

Floyd Mayweather is one of the most successful boxers in the history of the sport.

He’s the best boxer in his generation, going 50 fights without losing.

Floyd Mayweather is also known for his antics off the boxing ring and has courted controversy for the last decade or so.

He lives an envy-inducing lifestyle and is known to be flashy on social media.

Among the reasons for his fame on social media are his high-end luxury cars.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has amassed a huge fortune as an undefeated boxing champion.

His 2015 fight against Manny Pacquiao earned him over $180 million.

As one of the highest-paid athletes in the world, Floyd Mayweather Jr. can afford to feed his extravagant car-buying habit.

Josh Towbin, the owner of Towbin Motorcars, has sold over 100 cars to Mayweather over the course of 18 years and says he likes to pay for them with duffel bags of cash.

Mayweather is worth an estimated $800 million.

With that kind of net worth, only the finest will do, and that’s exactly what Floyd Mayweather did when he purchased the Gulfstream G650.

His private jet takes him worldwide from places like Hong Kong to Las Vegas.

Floyd “Money” Mayweather proves that you don’t have to be a stand-up comedian to have a world class car collection.

Mayweather’s fleet of automobiles is reportedly at least 100 strong, and includes a Bentley Mulsanne, a Rolls Royce Drophead and Rolls Royce Phantom, several Ferraris, a Lamborghini Aventador, and many, many more – and he reportedly likes to pay cash.

Mayweather’s collection includes multiple Bugatti supercars, which cost over $2 million each.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. put on the market one of his ultra-rare cars: a $4.7 million Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita, one of only two in existence.

The CCXR Trevita has 1,018 horsepower and a top speed of over 254 mph. As the above picture (showing only a few of his cars) shows, Mayweather loves his cars in white but also owns supercars in a variety of other colors.

He’s even known to buy different colors of the same type of vehicle.

His unparalleled spending on luxury cars has caught the eye of the taxman, though.

In July 2017, there was news that he owed more than $30 million in unpaid taxes to the IRS.

Despite the setback, Mayweather still continues to spend millions on luxury toys and owns over 100 of them.

There’s over $15 million worth of cars he’s never driven, yet they sit in the garage of his Las Vegas mansion.

He left the company after seven years, deciding “there was a whole mess of other things that I wanted to do with my life.” To the benefit of Sports Car Digest readers, this “mess of other things” would thankfully include gathering and vintage racing a staggering collection of pre-war Alfa Romeos, post-war Ferraris and significant race and street cars from the 1950s, ’60s and beyond.

Shirley, who is 77, has 27 cars in his collection.

Most of them are race cars and exotic sports cars, with highlights including a 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B and a 1954 Ferrari 375 MM Scaglietti coupe that was custom built for the Italian film director Roberto Rossellini.
