Crispy Skillet Turkey Burgers – A little bit of cheese goes a long way in helping these turkey burgers stay moist.

Mixing Monterey Jack in with the lean turkey meat created juicy pockets of fat, which yielded a more desirable interior texture, and the cheese crisped around the edges of the burger, creating a crunchy crust.

Adding panko bread crumbs and a little bit of mayonnaise kept the burgers from becoming too dense.

You can top these burgers with any of the usual favorites; sliced tomato, lettuce, and sliced onion.

particularly liked the tanginess of pickled onions to cut through the richness of the burger.

To make delicious turkey burgers, you can use different types of ground turkey, depending on your preferences for leanness, flavor, and texture.

Here are some of the most common types of ground turkey used for burgers:

Ground Turkey (mixed white and dark meat): This type is a mix of both white and dark turkey meat. It offers a balance of leanness and flavor compared to ground turkey breast alone. The fat content can vary, but typically it is around 93% lean and 7% fat, which can result in a moist and succulent burger. You can also find 80-85% lean options for even juicier burgers.

Ground Turkey Breast: This is the leanest option, usually 99% lean and 1% fat, as it is made solely from the turkey breast. While it is the healthiest option with the lowest fat content, it can also lead to a drier burger if not handled properly during preparation.

Ground Turkey Thighs and Drumsticks (dark meat): This option consists primarily of dark meat from the legs and thighs, which are richer in fat and flavor. Dark meat turkey burgers tend to be juicier and have a more robust flavor profile compared to those made with white meat.
